AI-Enhanced Virtual Reality Colonoscopies

Cosmo Pharmaceuticals has announced plans to launch a groundbreaking trial integrating its GI Genius system with Apple's Vision Pro headset. The study, led by researchers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, will commence next month and represents a significant leap forward in endoscopic technology.

The GI Genius system, already FDA-cleared and marketed in partnership with Medtronic, has demonstrated superior detection rates for potentially cancerous lesions and benign adenomas compared to standard colonoscopy procedures. Now, by leveraging the high-resolution display and augmented reality capabilities of the Apple Vision Pro, Cosmo aims to provide physicians with unprecedented clinical visualizations during endoscopic examinations.

Expanding AI Applications in Gastroenterology

In addition to the GI Genius and Apple Vision Pro integration, Cosmo is making strides in other areas of AI-assisted gastroenterology. The company recently reported that Endovision, an AI developer based in Hong Kong and India, has obtained CE Mark and MDR certification in the European Union for its Cerebro program.

Cerebro is designed to provide real-time AI guidance for upper gastrointestinal tract procedures, including examinations of the esophagus, stomach, and small intestine. The system can identify anatomical landmarks and potential quality issues during endoscopic exams. Cosmo plans to begin European distribution of Cerebro later this year through the GI Genius platform, further expanding its portfolio of AI-enhanced gastrointestinal diagnostic tools.
